A Toronto Police constable was arrested Monday on drug trafficking and possession charges.
Ned Maodus, 40, has been charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in heroin and one count of possession of ecstasy.
The charges stem from a search of Maodus's home in March 2002. He has been suspended from duty with pay since then in relation to off-duty criminal charges laid by the Ontario Provincial Police.
The 15-year veteran of the force surrendered Monday to members of the Toronto Police Service Professional Standards Special Task Force at an Orangeville courthouse.
A bail hearing was held Monday afternoon.
Maodus has also been named in a lawsuit alleging that he and other members of the Toronto Police drug squad beat and robbed drug suspects.
